Supporting Workforce Excellence in Johnston County

CAWD’s assistant director Malinda Todd, and business engagement director Barbara Brothers are both serving on the Johnston County Business Alliance. As a partner, we helped to fund the Johnston County Workforce Development Strategic Plan released in January.

From 2017-2022, Johnston’s population increased by 19.6% growing by 38,565. In the next 5 years, growth is expected to increase by 18.0%, adding 42,416 people. Jobs increased by 16.0% and outpaced the national growth rate of 2.4%.

Johnston’s growth patterns make it a valuable contributor to our region and we hope to implement county-specific workforce initiatives to help county leaders achieve their goals.
